Contest for soloists and conductors of the Porto Alegre Symphony opens registration

Registration is now open for the selection of students from the Professional Graduate Program in Music (PROMUS) who will act as soloist or conductor in the 2019-2020 season of the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (OSPA). Master students have until 11:59 pm on June 15 to enroll.

The initiative is part of the agreement signed between the Program and the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra Foundation (FOSPA), which provides dates in its concert season for students in the areas of conducting, singing and instrumentalists to perform together with its various orchestral bodies. In return, the Program reserves vacancies in its annual selection notices for Foundation members.

The work chosen by the instrumentalist and singer candidates should be between 10 and 30 minutes. The conducting candidates will present a video work for the stages of the selection process, but, if chosen, they will have to conduct the entire program with the Symphony, in which case the repertoire will be defined together with the artistic direction of the Foundation.

The first stage of the selection process will consist of the evaluation of the submitted video, by a judging committee formed by PROMUS teachers. The final stage of the selection process will be conducted by OSPA.
