He began his bassoon studies with Noel Devos in Rio de Janeiro. He holds a Doctorate in Music, (UNIRIO, 2008), a Master's Degree in Music (UFRJ, 1995), a Specialization in Musicology (Centro Universitário Conservatório Brasileiro de Música, 1988), completed a professional improvement course (Cours de Perfectionnement) in the class of Gilbert Audin at Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison, in France, obtaining the Prix de Virtuosité (1986-1987), as a CAPES fellow; did an internship in February 1994 with Gerald Corey at the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada. He is currently an associate professor of bassoon at Escola de Música of UFRJ, working in undergraduate, graduate courses and extension projects. Since 2016, he has been Head of the Professional Master's Degree in Music (www.promus.musica.ufrj). He has recorded several albums, which include Música Brasileira de Concerto para Fagote e Orquestra (Record label: EM/UFRJ; 2011), Música Brasileira para Oboé, Fagote e Piano (Record label: EM/UFRJ; 2013), Francisco Mignone – música para fagote (Record label: EM/UFRJ, 2015), as well as the discography of Quinteto Villa-Lobos, of which the highlights are A Obra de Câmara para Sopros de Villa-Lobos (Record label: ABM Digital / 2005) and Quintetos de Sopros Brasileiros, volumes 1 and 2 (Record label: Radio MEC / 2006). He has already performed and taught courses and workshops throughout Brazil, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas and Europe.
