PhD in Music at UNICAMP and Master at UFRJ, Cristiano Alves was a student of José Carlos de Castro and received guidance from many of our great Brazilian clarinetists, as well as from countless and renowned international professors. Holder of several awards in important competitions, he is regularly invited to perform recitals, concerts and master classes throughout Brazil and in countries such as the USA, Canada, England, France, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, Peru, Colombia , Slovenia, Singapore and Vietnam. In 2005, he released his first CD, with pianist Tamara Ujakova, finalist of the Tim Award.
He performs in duo with pianist Ricardo Ballestero, having also performed with artists such as Maria João Pires, Jean Louis Steurmann, Fany Solter and Ricardo Castro. With an outstanding career as a soloist, he frequently performs in front of South American orchestras, being responsible for the first auditions, in Rio de Janeiro, for the concerts of Carl Nielsen, Jean Françaix and John Corigliano for clarinet.
